[Love Mode] Winter Snow

You wake up in the early hours of the morning, suddenly and inexplicably, and for a second you don’t recognise the heavy arm around your waist. But then you take a deep breath, inhaling the scent of sex and sweat and gunpowder, and you relax. Without knowing why, you glance out the window, and this is when you discover that it’s snowing.

Slipping silently out of bed, out of his arms, you walk over to the window and stare out at a white sky that reminds you of another home, another life. You don’t know how long you stand there, but after a while you feel heat against your back, strong arms wrapping around your shivering body.

“Come back to bed,” he murmurs into your hair, and you nod.

You lie together in the darkness and listen to each other’s breathing, and you both pretend that you aren’t thinking about the snow outside, and the third person between you.
